On Wednesday evening it was time for Armin Veh and his men to pay their traditional visit to the '162nd Cannstatter Volksfest'. Due to the international games over the coming week, only six first team players were available as well as the complete trainer and team of assistants.
Al on hand piled into the Dinkelacker Tent and made their way to the corner where the complete VfB board, fan representative Peter Reichert, VfB shop staff, various VfB partners and a couple of former players had gathered. President Erwin Staudt greeted all from the stage and co-trainer Alfons Higl tapped the first keg of the night.
Hitzlsperger makes the draw
German international Thomas Hitzlsperger, who has had to remain in Stuttgart through injury, made the draw for the VfB goodies as the guests at the ‘Volksfest' got into the swing of things with the aid of some suitable music. The team took to the stage and answered questions from host Stefan Kiss whilst presenting the draw winners with their prizes. There was plenty to eat and drink for all but the players had to make an early night of it with two training sessions planned for Thursday.
